Home of Great Roasted Coffee
Sitting on my porch on a spring morning in 2019, over-looking the mighty Minnesota river, I was ready to enjoy a fresh espresso. After 2-3 sips I realized how disappointing it was. This was another of many coffee beans that I bought that was considered “Artisan Roasted Coffee”. Not only was it disappointing, it was also very expensive. This latest bean was given high marks by a reputable coffee house, and I was not impressed. I pulled out my laptop and started searching for coffee at its freshest to see if I could find that perfect coffee or espresso. I did not want beans that were months or weeks old, I wanted beans that were roasted the day they were shipped to me. Anyone who loves a great espresso or coffee; you know how important a fresh bean is in that process. After searching for 10-15 minutes a day over the next few weeks, I came up empty handed. So, like anything good in this world, “if you want it done right”, you need to do it yourself.
So that is what I did, I set out to roast my own coffee beans in the search for the very best. I bought my first roaster, (a very small one). It was capable of roasting about a one-cup of green beans. I also purchased some green beans off Amazon and looked forward to my own roast.
I received both orders a few weeks later and started my journey. That very first roast was a disaster. I made the mistake of using the kitchen range as my heat source, and the house quickly turned into a haze of smoke. I wisely moved my operation outside and used the side burner of my grill as the heat source, and so it began. Coffee roasting history!! Despite producing drinkable coffee, I felt so lost each time I roasted. I had no I idea what I was doing, so I bought every book I could get my hands on and studied. I put my heart and soul into it, I had never studied this hard in my entire life. I did not want to just be good at it, I wanted to be the best. If I was going to share my coffee with the world, I would not do so until it was perfect. I learned along the way, that buying green beans off Amazon was not the best solution either. I now have coffee beans from all over the world, and each one is packed with flavor and aroma. Many of you reading this have had the pleasure of trying them. If they didn’t pass my test, they didn’t make it in the cup. Now 2021, and a little over two years later, I am still learning each time I roast. I always feel like my latest batch is my best one to date. I seem to learn a little each time, and I make slight changes to make the roast that much better. I do not have a $40,000.00 roaster that does the work for me, I use my eyes and ears to know when the roast is at peak, this truly is hand-batched each time. No two roasts ever come out exactly the same, which adds some adventure to the experience of true, artisanal coffee.
So, there you have it. Sitting on the hillside of the Minnesota river. Your coffee is being roasted on “Riverview Lane” in Belle Plaine Minnesota. To this day I strive for that perfect cup of coffee that I started looking for back in 2019. That passion still exists to this day, and each bean you brew, turn into espresso, or make a hundred other ways. Know that I have poured my heart and soul into making that bean the freshest that you can buy in the world, with a lot of love and hard work sprinkled in.
Why am I telling you all this? I want you to know that each time you order, you will receive the freshest coffee in the world. Your order will ship the same day, or the next day from roast. I roast orders as I get them, not the other way around. My fresh coffee will not be compromised by a backlog of orders, so please be patient as I fill them.
Never tried my coffee? You already know it is the freshest, but what you might not know is the kick of caffeine you are about to get. Caffeine dissipates over time, and what you are probably used to is stale old coffee bean that does not have the same punch. Your body will need some adjusting when you try my coffee for the first time, so take it slow and enjoy!
A very special thank you to all my family and friends that have given my honest feed-back over the years while I fine-tuned this process. You all have become a part of this journey with me, and for that I am eternally grateful.
